Craft Your Own Fruit Wine With Ease
Turn your favourite fruits into delicious homemade wine with our Fruit Wine Kit.
This kit includes all the essential winemaking agents you need to turn almost any fruit into a unique, flavourful wine. Simply gather and prepare your fruit, add the required sugar, and follow the straightforward instructions to create 6 bottles (4.5 litres) of one-of-a-kind wine.
Fruit-winemaking allows for a lot of experimentation and there is no ‘standard’ recipe, but to get you started, we’ve created the following recipes using fruits commonly used in fruit winemaking. For each recipe:
1. Gather the amount of fruit and sugar as indicated.
2. Prepare your fruit following the fruit preparation guidelines below.
3. Proceed to follow the Fruit Wine Kit Instructions to create your perfect batch.

Fruit Wine Recipes
For the following recipes you will require the following equipment:
- Primary fermenter (5 L)
- Airlock
- Thermometer strip
- Straining bag capable of holding 2-3 kg fruit when tied up
- Mixing spoon/paddle
- Demijohn & Bored Bung / Secondary fermenter (5 L)
- Syphon
- Handcraft Supplies Cleaner & Sanitiser
Optional:
- Hydrometer
- Trial jar
For bottling:
- 6 x 750 ml wine bottles
- 6 corks & corker / screw caps

Apple Wine
Light, crisp, and delicately dry, apple wine offers a refreshing acidity with subtle notes of orchard blossom and a clean, smooth finish. Ideal served chilled on warm days.
Fruit & Weight | Fruit & Weight Apples – 3 kg Use 500 g dried fruit or 2 kg tinned fruit (including liquid) if fresh is unavailable. |

Preparation | Preparation Use a mix of sweet, sour and cooking apples for optimal results. Wash apples with cold water then chop into small pieces, discarding any bruised pieces or maggot coves. If using tinned fruit, rinse the fruit first or adjust the sugar addition accordingly if adding the syrup. |

Blackberry Wine
Deep and velvety with rich berry tones and a hint of spice, blackberry wine balances sweetness with a gentle acidity. It pairs well with roasted meats or rich desserts.

Cherry Wine
Tart and vibrant, cherry wine is packed with sharp cherry flavour balanced by a soft finish and just a touch of sweetness. Enjoy on its own or with dark chocolate.

Preparation | Preparation Use only morello cherries or a mix of cherries and morello cherries for best results. Remove stalks and stones using an olive pitter and rinse pitted cherries under cold water. If using tinned fruit, rinse the fruit first or adjust the sugar addition accordingly if adding the syrup. |

Elderberry Wine
Bold and full-bodied, elderberry wine delivers intense dark fruit flavours with a touch of tannin and a warming, port-like depth. Excellent for maturing or enjoying beside hearty dishes.

Feijoa Wine
Exotic and aromatic, feijoa wine offers tropical notes of guava and pineapple with a slightly tangy edge and a soft, off-dry finish. A unique, fragrant wine that stands out chilled on a summer evening.

Rhubarb Wine
Bright and zesty with a mouth-watering tartness, rhubarb wine is crisp, refreshing, and versatile, with a clean finish and just enough sweetness to balance its tang.
Fruit & Weight | Fruit & Weight Rhubarb – 2 kg Use 1.8 g tinned fruit (including liquid) if fresh is unavailable. |

Preparation | Preparation Use only rhubarb stalks – never use the leaves as they are toxic. Choose firm, crisp stalks with a good colour. Wash the rhubarb thoroughly and trim both ends. Chop into 1-2cm pieces and discard any blemished parts. Tip – as a slight change to Step 3 in the instructions, sprinkle all of the sugar over the rhubarb inside the straining bag and allow it to sit for 24 hours inside the fermenter to macerate before adding the water. If using tinned rhubarb, rinse first or adjust the sugar addition accordingly if adding the syrup. |

Pear Wine
Delicately perfumed and subtly sweet, pear wine has a smooth, rounded palate with hints of honey and vanilla. A gentle, easy-drinking wine with soft charm.

Plum Wine
Smooth and mellow with gentle sweetness, plum wine showcases ripe stone fruit flavours and a whisper of almond on the finish. Lovely as a dessert wine or served lightly chilled.

Raspberry Wine

Strawberry Wine
Light and summery with sweet, juicy fruit notes, strawberry wine is soft and fragrant with a touch of floral freshness. A delightful choice for warm-weather sipping.

Elderflower Wine
Elegant and floral, elderflower wine is dry and aromatic with fresh citrus notes and a delicate fragrance reminiscent of summer meadows. A perfect aperitif.

Preparation | Preparation Use elderflowers that are freshy picked. Fully open elderflowers (creamy elderflowers) give more pronounced flavour and aroma than younger elderflowers. White elderflowers have not fully opended yet and are milder in flavour and aroma than creamy elderflowers, but either, or a mix can be used. Ensure the flowers are free from dirt and insects. Remove the flowers from their stalks using a fork and discard the stalks. Wash the elderflowers with cold water before use. |

Blueberry Wine
Rich and jammy with deep berry character, blueberry wine brings forward hints of spice and earthiness, balanced by a soft, mellow sweetness. A great choice for sipping or pairing with cheese.
